699364 2008-08-22 09:46:00 While we've heard stories of people paying others to line up outside Apple stores to buy the latest iPhone, here's a story where the mobile carrier is paying actors to pretend to be lining up, all in the name of marketing.

699367 2008-08-22 10:53:00 Maybe Orange think that no one will buy them in Poland unless they see people lining up outside the store prior to them going on sale - which would be a first. Wierd form of marketing  snafu (14042)
699368 2008-08-22 11:08:00 Meh....they done it in NZ, The "first" person in line and subsequently first person in NZ to "buy" an iPhone was a paid to do it, and didn't get to keep the iphone he was paid to buy. Metla (12)
699369 2008-08-22 11:16:00 Maybe Orange thinks that the Pols would prefer Windows Mobile instead of the iPhone.... who knows...

Edit: My Polish is crap but here are the prices for regular peoples
www.orange.pl

and for business persons
www.orange.pl

1 Polish zloty = ~ 0.455 U.S. dollars (as for 2008-08-21)

Something tells me they ain't cheap.

It is the biggest con job, this iphone in NZ. Yellowpages paid people in NZ for exactly the same thing. I see they are now dropping the price of their iphone plans, as they didn't get too many people signing up at the old prices.

699371 2008-08-22 14:40:00 if it was priced to fit in with their other mobiles and could go on standard plans i'd buy one

until then you'd have to have more money than sense to buy one
