699338 2008-08-22 08:30:00 PS3 160GB is coming out soon at $499 and the new PS3 80GB currently retails for $399.

I dont care about space and frankly 80GB would be fine. However i know PS3 80GB (New Ver just came out) is not Backwards compatible with PS2 games where as the pricier PS3 160GB will be.

What i want to know is will all major/popular games of PS2 will come out on PS3 format? I dont have PS2 games on me but i dont want to be stuck with a PS3 console that has very little titles on it

Also i saw somewhere that the cheaper version will lack USB slots n memory card slot. How important are these USB slots for gaming that i should go for the pricier PS3 console??

Any other tips will be appreciated. Oh also is the pricier version 'region free' and can play both PAL/NTSC games??

Also anyone who may have experiences where 80Gb is too less....can u tell what mostly chews up the space?

And from what i heard PS3 is better in long run and will likely come out with Wii like games/controllers....quicker then XBox 360..Is this true or possible in future for Sony PS3?
I hear PS4 wont be coming out until at the earliest 2011...so thats why i wanna get a system now which will last me for a long time and since its too pricey (for me) i wanna ask few Q before buying it.....X-Box360 is crap from what i have been told so i am not goin for that :D

Thanks

Really? Got a link for that? I don't see how having a bigger HDD has anything to do with compatibilty.

PS3 160GB will NOT be backwards compatible with PS2 Games !

The prices are in US dollars for $499 for PS3 160GB and the new PS 80GB for US$399 will also have flash card slots missing and only 2 USB slots and of course will not be BC with PS2 games.

Sony can only bring prices down by cutting on additional hardware features and cutting of emulation for PS2. Although i dont know how cutting back on emulation will bring prices down as its software based emulation on current PS3 models

PS3 160GB is releasing in Nov 2008 in US...dont know about NZ dates

For those who have PS2 Games get the PS3 now if you want BC as future version os PS3 (both premium and non premium) will NOT have BC

PS3 aren't region coded and it won't be backwards compatible so you can play PS2

There is no NTSC/PAL for ps3 games .

I'm surprise they are selling a 160GB because the 40GB had a hard time selling

Ha . . . 160GB with 6x USB Slots . Do people seriously need 6?

The price of PS3 40GB was 3 . 5x more that of the price in Sony Hong Kong . You could buy 3 PS3 with the price that they first came out in NZ from Hk

Good luck selling it in NZ
