822656 2009-10-21 01:58:00 Upgrading a mates P4 as it only had 256Mb of ram installed, did a scan with crucial which recommended installing 2Gb of ram which was duly purchased.

822659 2009-10-21 02:36:00 I would ask in their forum, that link tells you what it can / may take, the different systems, it doesnt say whats actually in it. Or anything else Speedy Gonzales (78)
822660 2009-10-21 02:40:00 Try running each module on it's own. And see if one is fried. Cato (6936)
822661 2009-10-21 02:56:00 The both fried themselves it would seem.

Long beeps on startup, red leds on the ram and a look at the chips shows heat damage on the ram. :groan:

822662 2009-10-21 03:03:00 Have you tried the module your originally had?

Memory should be one continuous beeb not long beeps.

Edit: Heat dammage, just get them replaced.

822663 2009-10-21 03:35:00 Memory should be one continuous beeb not long beeps.

Wrong, it all depends on the BIOS. There is no single beep code for faulty RAM.

822664 2009-10-21 03:40:00 # Supports a maximum memory size of 2 GB (using 2 x 1 GB memory modules)
# Warning: Not all memory configuration qualified!
# Support only 2.5V DIMM DDRAM configurations
# Un-buffered type support
# With CPU FSB:

* 800 MHz memory up to DDR400
* 533 MHz memory up to DDR333

Its an MSI board. Rubbish.
