822484 2009-10-20 21:08:00 What's the lesser of two evils? XFX works out to $20 more. PB links for reference only.

I believe XFX (pbtech.co.nz) have a 3 year warranty, what about Sapphire (pbtech.co.nz)? I've never particularly trusted either brand. Is the cooling setup on that XFX card worth having over the other? I think the Sapphire cards only have a two year warranty, would that be right?

Not for me BTW. :)

Thanks guys and gals. :banana

822485 2009-10-20 21:15:00 I have used XFX for a number of years and nothing but good things to say about the brand. I got a hold of one of their XXX cards which is the factory overclocked version and it was very stable and ran like a dream.

I have not tried Sapphire myself but based on what I have read I would not buy one.

GRAPHICS CARDS: The limited hardware warranty for Graphics Cards lasts for a time period of one year. If you register the product online at Language Selection within 30 days of purchase, your limited warranty will be extended for the duration of your life. Registration within 30 days of the date of purchase is a condition precedent to receiving the lifetime warranty.

I purchased 2/07/207 a
XFX GF 8800GTX 768MB DDR3 DUAL DVI TV for $589 from Newegg

XFX will NOT honor the advertised warranty.. with the following claims!
The warranty is voided because it was NOT registered within 30 days after purchase!

ASUS and Gigabyte are the only 2 that give you 3 years without any "conditions".

Its not what *has* or has not happened to it, its what *might* happen to it(warranty!)

And not even what might happen to "it", the general failure rate overall. Chances are you'll be a lucky problem-free owner, but then again maybe not.
Reliability and stress free RMA or go ahead and buy crap.

822493 2009-10-21 19:17:00 Friend has gone for the XFX. Will make sure he registers it, or whatever it is that's required to get the warranty. Thanks for the advice. wratterus (105)
