The average user generally doesn't. They were oblivious to all the stuff XP did in the background, so they'll hardly know what Vista does.

During the hearing two weeks ago, Jeffrey Tilden, another plaintiff attorney, quoted extensively from internal Microsoft e-mails that appeared to show that employees within Microsoft had misgivings about the "Windows Vista Capable" campaign.

They should have made realistic minimum spec, & have vista not install on
PC's that didnt meet that spec. I think they were hoping the masses would
want to upgrade their OS on existing PC's.
There are still laptops with 512m SHARED ram & slow 4200 HD's being sold with vista.

The amount of bloatware preinstalled (& running in background) by HP Toshiba etc also makes these machines pretty sluggish.

698913 2008-08-22 02:34:00 I can 100% prove that Vista problems are related to cheap ****ty sub $1000 laptops. I have done my research with focus groups and testers. Then prove it to us. (I don't doubt you, but would really like to read the evidence). Greg (193)
698914 2008-08-22 04:26:00 Ahah ! I see it all. When you are dead, Vista is the OS of choice?

In that case, Vista = gold. :p

Vista pre SP1 had some nasty issues . Ive collated a folder on these.
Poor network (non domain) file transfer speeds, poor file copy speeds.
Issues with USB storage devices be assigned drive letters that were also
a mapped network drive letter. DHCP issues with some internet routers (even new ones). MMCSS issues. UAC issues.

However, many Vista issues were from Software/hardware Companies not
coming out with compatible software/drivers even though they had plenty
of time to do so (in the Vista beta phase).
