822514 2009-10-22 18:09:00 I'm reading this thread with interest.
At present I have Skype, it seems to work OK for me. But with posts present and past from the likes of pctek and chill I am a bit anxious about the product.

I see 2talk and voip cheap with Ekiga softphone mentioned as alternatives.
What one of these options would be best, do you think?

822515 2009-10-22 18:44:00 Voipcheap works straight out of the box with Windows.(just a bit of setting up)
Ekigna (or some other soft phone) required to get it going in linux.10 euros will
get 3 months of free calls to most landlines and very cheap to mobiles.
Check it out www.voipcheap.com

822516 2009-10-22 18:49:00 Well I've been using it nearly every day for over a year now and never had a problem.

In fact, nearly all the friends and family use it and I don't recall any having a problem other than the brother-in-law having his speakers a bit loud one day.

It's come a long way since I first tried it and dumped it 2 or 3 years ago.

As I type I notice that there are supposedly 19 Million on line so I guess it can't all be bad. :D
