700267 2008-08-25 23:30:00 Yes i felt it in Taupo, thought I was in a water bed, it sort of rolled a bit. Hate them rolling ones! lakewoodlady (103)
700268 2008-08-26 00:37:00 Didn't roll in Taradale, Napier. Shaking built up slowly them "WHAM" a hell of a sideways kick and then shook like hell. Lots of roaring noise. Probably the biggest one I have felt in my 45 years in the Bay.

A few things bit the dust, photo frames, stuff in pantry etc. No structural damage to the house though, after a careful check this morning.

700269 2008-08-26 01:58:00 No damage here, apart from a few bits and pieces fell over and some vases rocked over and spilled their water.

Pretty tame I reckoned in afterthought, despite it being the only real quake I've ever experienced.

But... I ain't looking forward to anything worse!

Better move then, that wasn't even in Napier:
The 5.9 magnitude quake struck at 11.25pm yesterday and was centred about 10km southwest of Hastings at a depth of 30km. A 3.5 magnitude aftershock was recorded shortly after the first earthquake.

Napier on the other hand:

700274 2008-08-26 09:53:00 30k west of Hastings. Nasty, noisy and extremely violent. No serious damage though. As I expected yet another earthquake, I was too scared to sleep. I'll be catching up with zzzzz tonight..... Oldferix (5581)
