699537 2008-08-23 09:31:00 Why do they have a debating chamber? The party(or coalition) that has the majority decides what they want and they make that law. The opposition can jump up and down all they like but it doesn't make any difference to what the ruling party want to do. joemac (9739)

Only 8 MPs voted against the Bill.

Yes I agree, National could have made a good point by voting against it. But they voted for it.

MPs are supposed to reflect the will of the people, not the will of Sue Bradford and Ruth Dyson.

And Helen Clark said a while ago, the referendum would not be held with the election, so she has to stick to her words. She is a very strong leader, its just that she is not Margaret Thatcher.

I would like to hear Nats reason for that, the cads.

699541 2008-08-24 00:34:00 My wife was a single mother for 9 years under Nats she would have had to put her boy in day care and then work, how is that raising the boy properly? And don't forget how Muldoon bankrupted the country as Nat leader.

I won't be voting labour because I think they are better but because the opposition is not good enough.

699542 2008-08-24 00:55:00 heh, My wife is married to me, And we are struggling not to put our kids into daycare so she can go to work.

If I didn't get a whacking great pay rise (and I only got that because my dad happens to own the company) to coincide with the second kid we wouldn't have had a choice, as it is we are going backwards, No matter how tight we run the budget we are still spending more then I make.

So, Now I'm going to take a (another) loan against the house so we can set her up in a home based business, If it fails then we will go under, If it succeeds we will lose our "working for families" benefit (something I argued not to accept) and no doubt be taxed to the point of why bother.

Yeah, a strong leader, sticking by a petty self-serving decision that will cost the country millions.

Pity they forget they are meant to act on our interests, Not their own.
Metla (12)
699544 2008-08-24 01:36:00 And while I'm at it, We have a $1600 bill from the IRD, They say they over-paid us our working for family's benefit, Even though we listed our income at $5000 more then I make, they still managed to over pay us?

Bull****.

Whoever is behind this sort of crap needs to be dragged through the streets and beaten, and then shot.Twice.

How ****in hard would it be just to tax us less, You ****ing moron ****s, You can stick your ****in benefit and your ****in tax bill right up your ****in arse, right alongside your anti-smaking bill and your ****in bull**** refendum and its ****in million dollar price tag.

**** em all, **** em up the arse.

(and for what its worth, My wife went back to work when my first son was 1, so forgive me if my heart pumps custard that some single mums can only sit on their arses for 6 damn years before being forced to be a contributing member of society)

699545 2008-08-24 01:38:00 You can always pick a labour voter. Cicero (40)
699546 2008-08-24 02:21:00 Looks like Metla is heading for a heart attack.
