823479 2009-10-24 12:26:00 Have you tried removing the hard drive and putting it in another system, then scanning it with a virus scanner? Speedy Gonzales (78)

What probably happened is that the virus infected some system files(namely userinit.exe) and Avast! removed those infected files.

All you can do now is a repair install really, but even then you will probably be reinfected unless you can fully remove all traces of leftover malware.

Suggest you take it to a real tech to get it sorted and recover you data first.

Thanks. You are right. So i reinstalled WindowsXP. Since I could not find an expert in my area so i had to lose all my data.
Thanks for all your guidance and i will be now so much careful. Yes i will request you to advise me what i should install on my computer to prevent virus attack in future.

823482 2009-10-26 20:08:00 On Access Scanner:
Microsoft Security Essentials (www.microsoft.com)(free)
Eset Nod32(Paid)
Anti-Spyware Tools:
Spybot S&D (www.safer-networking.org)
Spyware Terminator (www.spywareterminator.com)

Do a scan with all three(not at the same time) once every 1-4 weeks depending on your surfing habits..
