822555 2009-10-21 01:10:00 So it looks like my ADSL Router has died.
I was trying to update the firmware on my DSL-G604T and now it's not connecting at all.
I was considering getting a new one anyways.
I was wondering what the best wireless router\modem is out there.
Would like to stay around the $200 if possible.

Thanks!

822556 2009-10-21 02:28:00 What do you mean it's not connecting?

Do you mean it does not connect to the internet or do you mean you cannot connect to the router?

I'd have no second thoughts with them.

If you want something cheaper.

822558 2009-10-21 03:20:00 If you can get to the config page but not connect to the internet it will be because your settings were lost when you upgraded the firmare.

If you have genuinely bricked the whole thing, you may still be able to recover it. Try the D-Link website for a recovery program, I remember using one to fix a 302G or 502T which was badly flashed

From what I have read, there are a lot of issues with the wag160n. DSE is also a rip off. The replacement wag320n has recently been announced, basically the same, but with dual band wireless N and gigabit ports. Hopefully the issues have been fixed too.

As far as I am aware most of those issues were related to Vista and a few were due to poor implementations of draft-n and upgrading the firmware on n-capable cards fixed it.

822561 2009-10-21 04:35:00 Nope, not just the N-Wireless implementation, but the WAG160n router in general was flawed ... Chilling_Silence (9)

Only the power light comes on now. I've tried to recover it using info from dlink website, but nothing is working.

822563 2009-10-21 11:52:00 What process did you try from D-Link website?

Have you tried using the reset button to reset default settings? I've had to do that on several motherboards which appeared dead after a BIOS upgrade

The 'how to recover router' download. Although I see a note with it that says it won't work running vista, which is what I have.
I've tried all sorts of different things I've read online using the reset button, but still nothing.
