1444799 2018-01-14 04:29:00 I have a song in MP3 format. It's 6MB in size. More or less what bitrate would that be?

Can it easily be converted so it can be burnt to disk and played on a regular CD player?

2/ Yes.

1444801 2018-01-14 05:31:00 It can but it will be very poor. Converting from MP3 to a better quality seldom comes out well if ever. I have just converted some .flac files to 128k bitrate MP3 as my new ute doesn't accept .flac which the old ute did. I can hear the drop in quality despite not having the best hearing any more from too much construction noise. gary67 (56)
1444802 2018-01-14 08:47:00 Have to disagree Gary, an MP3 will lose no quality upconverting to CD format. It will sound the same as the MP3 does, which admittedly is not as good as an original but at high bit rates can be close enough. When creating your own you should use a 192k bitrate, 128 is rubbish but at 192 most can't hear the difference especially in a car, some people go all the way to 320k but I can't see the point myself. I use lossless for archival purposes and 192k mp3 for portable devices. You should definitely avoid going from one lossy codec to another though, you lose quality every time you do that.

As to the OP questions:
If you right click an MP3 and choose properties there is some info you can get that way, the details tab may tell you the bitrate but it depends on how it was encoded.
Any CD burning software should accept .MP3 as a source file and convert it for you, even windows media player has that function. Just make sure you burn an audio CD not a data one.

I'm not fussed about the quality, and its only one file.

Thanks folks, I've sorted it.
