1444559 2018-01-08 23:45:00 I have been helping a friend of mine who is now using two monitors off one tower. One is a 4K monitor and the other is extended of it. Mostly I have been successful, however the program Photoshop Elements 11 shows reduced size items, the menu items and a bit more, at reduced size. I have tried increasing the display text right up to 200%, but nothing seems to work. The OS is Windows 10.

What can you suggest please?

1444560 2018-01-09 01:50:00 That's the downside of 4k, the items aren't smaller the pixels are (ok well same effect in practice). Some programs are not designed for it and despite 4K being around for quite a while it's still not what I'd call mainstream.
Seems they have added a fix on later versions, but for now maybe this work around might help www.danantonielli.com seems like an awkward solution though.

1444561 2018-01-09 01:54:00 Another observation, my work PC is a surface pro which has a high res tiny screen - terrible combo for some software. Anyway I run dual widescreen monitors off it and find I have to set one of them as the main or else windows scaling trickery makes everything on those monitors look fuzzy. The reverse is not true for the high res screen, it still looks the same as always regardless. So my observation is mixing high and low res screens looks nicer if you set the lower res screen as the main, may not always be the case and I can see that wouldn't suit when one of them is a nice 4k screen. dugimodo (138)
1444562 2018-01-09 03:52:00 Hi Dugimodo
Many thanks for your suggestions. The first unfortunately is not a prospect however as the whole reason for his getting the 4K monitor was to see the image at the best possible resolution.

Had not thought of the second option. Cannot quite follow your reservations about this approach. If the lower resolution monitor is set as the main, well I guess, that he can still have Photoshop Elements controls on the lower resolution and the image on the 4K monitor.

The main problem at present is that when opening a RAW file, it opens in Adobe Camera Raw. With the Adobe Camera Raw part of the process, you cannot separate the controls from the image - as you can with Elements. At present he has to open in the lower res screen to see and use the controls and then drag the image to the 4K to see the results. As you would gather doing this multiple times for even one image would be an absolute nightmare. However if the 4K is the secondary screen, then I believe from what you say he would then leave the Adobe Camera Raw permanently on that screen and be able to see the controls full size and the image at max resolution?

Is my understanding correct please?

1444563 2018-01-09 05:39:00 Sorry I can't answer that, I'm not actually a photoshop user. These were just my thoughts from my research into whether or not to buy a 4K monitor and my experience with my work PC.
At home I've stuck with 1080P.
