1443901 2017-12-21 18:33:00 I wish to share some documents and photo files with a friend overseas.

Any 'free' upload sites or what's the best way to go about?

Cheers

1443902 2017-12-21 18:51:00 Google drive or Dropbox? Both work well Google if you have a gmail address then you already have access to drive gary67 (56)
1443903 2017-12-21 19:01:00 Yes, I can upload to google drive but friend overseas can't access my files unless I give my login to him. bk T (215)

No you should be able to share as link with no authentication needed.... I just looked, under sharing, change the who has access to "Public" or "On - Anyone with link" and then they don't need to sign in (use the latter not public)

1443905 2017-12-21 19:55:00 Thanks for your info, psycik. but if I send him the link, he will be able to access all my other files, I only want him to access certain files, not all the files. bk T (215)
1443906 2017-12-21 20:11:00 You can also share the one file Via Onedrive ( if you have a MS account) All you do is upload it to the online storage, right click the file /Share, you then have the option to share several ways, including sending a link, which your friend would click and either download, Play ( if a movie) and other options.

See example:

Note: for obvious reasons I've wiped the title and actual link details.

1443907 2017-12-21 20:13:00 Make one folder 'Public' on drive and put the shared stuff in it. Leave everything else private.
Try Googleing 'Drive sharing' to see how.

1443908 2017-12-21 20:37:00 It should just be that one file - or any documents you have as public accessible (which is a more open permission than the link only). But you could take one of the other suggestions also, and move it to a special public folder. psycik (12851)
1443909 2017-12-21 20:55:00 One way to keep them tidy as well, depending on how many files, and if comfortable with compressing, is to zip all the files into one zipped file, then upload that to what ever location, your friend then downloads the one zipped file, right click - Extract. wainuitech (129)
1443910 2017-12-21 22:01:00 you could use https://mega.nz/ - free (for 20-50 gig - can't remember exactly) bevy121 (117)
