1443432	2017-12-16 19:00:00	2 annoying problems. 1) I select his speakers as default device. In fact I disabled his screen as sound altogether...but no, it reverts back to playing sound through the screen again. Why? 2)His screen resolution. It's all fine, then randomly out of nowhere you get spotty patchy ****, if I mess with the resolution it fixes it self. But comes back. Hard to describe, not low res and everythings big, like low res and all the text (and pics) is broken up and rubbish looking. Nearly had a heart attack, thought OMG, a GPU issue. His screen is a Sony TV, never been an issue until now. Native Resolution says 1366 x 768. If I go custom and choose this, it gives hertz of 30 or some crap but then it looks fine. I change it back to the 50hz choice, it's fine. Then the patchy look comes back. Downloaded driver from Nvidia (in case), nope, nothing to do with it. Google just keep finding stuff on scaling but it doesn't seem to be that. I don't think anyway.... What is this annoyance? So far this morning, left it on all night, idling, it hasn't come back yet...scaling is on 125%, I'm hesitant to change it back in case it is actually that...but all the google stuff on this seems to be related to text in specific apps, not really the whole look like this issue. Win10 has so far proven to be rather a PITA.	pctek (84)
1443433	2017-12-16 19:31:00	It kinda sounds like it's losing the connection to the screen and re detecting it, does it happen randomly or just on start up? The PC I used to use on my TV had sound issues if I didn't turn things on in the right order, had to make sure the TV and the receiver I fed it from were both turned on and the right input selected before powering up the PC, but that was the opposite of your problem it kept reverting back to onboard and I wanted HDMI sound.	dugimodo (138)

A reboot would cure it, so would any change to resolution or messing about with scaling . The screen issue anyway, sound, dunno, that was less of a problem .	pctek (84)

1443436	2017-12-16 21:05:00	Did you upgrade the OS to the latest as discussed yesterday on the phone ? The version you have is quite old The version you said is over a year out of date . When that happens there will be updates coming in and often cause various problems . You can download the latest with the media creation tool, or get the ISO from TECHBENCH ( . rg-adguard . net/index . php?sid=1aeabadc-9b3f-a924-471b-dbb878e1556c" target="_blank">tb . rg-adguard . net) In the drop down boxes, Start at Windows Final ------- (DONT select insider- these are Beta/Testing builds) Often problems occur when the OS is out of date with Newer Drivers (from manufactures) . 1443437	2017-12-17 04:05:00	Ok, the sound thing, if I mess with the TV at all, then Windows puts sound back to it. Even if disabled. Grrr. The screen. It's not an artifact, it's not the hardware. 3DMark behaves 100% perfectly. I think it's a combination of that TV and Win10. It's really 1360 x 768, you can choose a 1366, which is is max according to Sony, but I have to do i via Nvidia to get 60hz. It's OK, it's just crap really. Either he should get a real monitor or a better TV. he won't do either of course. SO I'm over it. No, I didn't do the new Windows, I'm over the whole O/S and I sure am not messing any further for him now. Loathed the whole first time round business. Oh, and GDs minecraft, had to get an new version for daddies PC, no free codes left gave up and bought it again, made me amend her profile and all sorts, then she had a bit of hassle with it. Sorted finally now and I can bugger off and go back to my OWN Pc now. Thanks	pctek (84)
1443438	2017-12-18 07:49:00	So guys, this is my new username. Not being a PC Tech anymore..... Anyway solved. he bought a monitor. What I couldn't explain exactly was why it does this more so now than before. Well, cause it's a TV. But specifically, the non-technical explanation is, because he was connected to VGA at the TV end before. This isn't the case now, and the TV didn't say oh VGA...device. It called it PC, and therefore knew, and sort of compensated for the difference. So it was always still rubbish but not as noiticable rubbish. Now because it comes out of the HDMI on the TV it can't do that. Some TVs allow you to mess with various settings to do it manually. But he just bought a big, proper monitor which is a far better idea. He's probably over the new hardware now I'd say too. Spent more than intended now. (formerly pctek)	piroska (17583)

1443440	2017-12-18 19:30:00	Seen similar happenings before, people using a TV for a monitor. Sure while they work for most things ( depending on the TV) sometimes problems occur. One person I sold a Computer to, had a 60" ( cant remember the brand of TV) Used it for gaming , and it was brilliant, almost like being in the game due to its size, mind you was a responsibly new TV (Approx 6 months old), running on HDMI.	wainuitech (129)
