1444973 2018-03-07 11:11:00 I just need to change my bucket list! A Paper White Kindle eReader would be nice!

How about this... while I was in Palmy hospital the other week one of my daughters and her boyfriend went and bought me a present... lo and behold, a brand new kindle Paper White! I have absolutely no idea how they could have known I so really wanted one!

Gotta tell ya, its everything I hoped it would be! *happy happy*

How do you back them up?

1444975 2018-03-08 04:21:00 You can plug them into a PC and copy stuff across, but there's no need to back them up because your amazon account keeps a record of everything you own and you can redownload it at will. There is a limit to the number of devices set by the publisher but that's it.

That reminds me, I should use mine more. I bought an older kindle, really liked it. Then upgraded to the paper white a couple of years later and like that one even more.
Some people like real books and that's cool, me I prefer the kindle. So convenient and no more need for bookshelves.

Best thing you can do put the kindle app on your phone and it auto synchs on wifi. I read on my kindle at home and at lunch time at work the same book on my phone. It synchs to the last page you read just tap the kindle app and read.

1444977 2018-03-08 06:30:00 As far as I'm concerned a house isn't a home without a library of books. I have owned an older kindle but always returned to paper books gary67 (56)

I remember people saying the same when screw type caps replaced corks on wine bottles.

Hmm.
I'd rather not have to download hundreds of books all over again though.

I'm not keen on batteries either, and how are they reading at the beach? Reading in the bath?
I'm thinking sand in it, water in it....

water and sand might be an issue but the battery lasts a very long time - enough to read several books depending how fast you are.
as for downloading hundreds of books, with a good internet connection they only take a few seconds each and why would you need to download them all at once.
If I want to re read something in my library that's not on the kindle it just downloads it for me and very quickly. Books are not large files.

Who reads in the bath? that's just weird - and not great for paper books either. But apparently it's possible to waterproof a kindle, or buy one already waterproofed.
