Now they are catching up, and finally getting what was promised under the treaty, you are up in arms! Take a deep breath, then calm down. Ahhh yes the Treaty. Dave the Treaty promised the Maori “Equality”, not Equality plus Privileges and Perks. And if you take away what they have been given, they would probably be extinct. For instance without Medicine and associated Medical assistance where would they be? Frankly, I believe disease would have wiped them out. Then there is the matter of inbreeding and the consequences thereof. It also astounds me the number of Maori Activists that wear Italian Suits and as we know some even wear Silk Underwear instead of Grass Skirts. Seriously, the only hardship I can see within Maori is completely self inflicted. :rolleyes: |

The treaty was said to have promised equality...but it didn't happen did it? Compared with the American Indians, The Aussie Aborigines, maori didn't have it quite so bad, and these days things are not bad at all really. But you sure wouldn't make comments like that if it was you and your country. My mum ran away from hers after if got invaded and taken over. It's generally not a lot of fun for the inhabitants....go read some history on England and forget the NZ extreme activists colouring your views. |

Yes, they have been subjected to Dodgy Pseudo Science, the same as the rest of us, so there is no inequality because of Race there. Science I accept, but Pseudo Science I do not, and this thread is about the unfair plight and inequality of the Maori Race anyway. Nothing to do with Global Warming. :) |

We signed a treaty with them, and then stole most of their land. Thats land they will never get back. And its in recent history , during my lifetime this was still gong on. We got their land, they got blankets and beads. So lets not complain about a few handouts . We either help them out or look overseas to see what can happen otherwise . Good god, we've spent $100Mil on the America's cup . |
