| 1444923 | 2018-01-23 03:05:00 | The [tumour] has been diagnosed - squamous cell carcinoma. Someone went over the treatment options with me this afternoon. 1 and 2 are utterly lousy, with the treatment being worse than the damn illness. 3 is the simplest and simply involves prolonging life in the most bearable way possible. From what I've understood, option 3 will be the most painless. Which course of action that'll be taken will depend on the results of more satanical procedures on Friday. To be honest I'm hoping for option 3, though of course I'd never tell my daughters that. Anyway, thanks everyone for the good wishes! |

You should, it may be that a situation could arise (not even related to this) that you can't make your wishes known and then next of kin get asked. We discuss these things here. In fact I bought a body bag online recently. Not that I have any sudden diagnosis of something, just being organised, so when the time comes, and if Med School doesn't accept my remains, it's not going to cost stupid amounts of money to dispose of me. Son knows all this. And husband filled out a Treatment (or not) thing should he end up in hospital and can't communicate his wishes. I hadn't seen my dad in 9 years when he ended up in hospital but I went down, he asked me about things, I told him, he made his wishes known. |

I'm sure they have upgraded the original meds, or you still have those so, go have an iceblock, a chocolate milk, and if possible a KFC. In fact whatever treat you like. Have some fun, as you can..... And I know you disapproved, but mirrdes thread, the medical version of that does apparently help with throwing up, they do use it in treatments....so maybe try that too, ask them. Remember the medical version doesn't have THC so don't worry about that affect, it's not there. |

There's a bloke in my neighbourhood who I saw from time to time at the local shops who was always offering me the stuff. Haven't seen him in a while but if I did would have bought some. I smoked the nonsense a million years ago when I was at the end of my school years, but packed it in when the affects started to make me feel depressed. |

Yeah I bet and it's random. if you look at the US they list various sorts, they're hybrids and such. They list by condition, they get user rated, they list side effects and all sorts......because it's not a random dodgy weed for the recreational user. Most people doing that in NZ wouldn't have a clue I'd say. as we don't have a proper medical industry here. It's like vege seeds now, you get varieties, like beans, dwarf, climbing, smooth bean, thin, bean, coloured bean...same kind of thing. I wouldn't recommend random off the street, it probably wouldn't help. But medical stuff, well it's an option and the medical people can advise on proper stuff. Anyway good luck. |

| 1444928 | 2018-01-24 00:10:00 | Just now I ate and managed to keep down the first solid food I've had for three months! A hospital staff member asked me yesterday to fill in a breakfast/lunch/dinner form for what I wanted for today's meals. The selection I chose was pretty minimilistic, and beyond hopeful that I'd be able to eat. Well blow me down, I actually managed to have and retain half an egg/mayo sandwich and a small ice cream and jelly! I couldn't believe it! Watch out tummy - next step crayfish thermadour and crepes suzzette! |

Being dead they were a pain, figuratively and literally, and I couldn't eat. Finally they were gone and yay, food! And a cup of tea that didn't take me an hour to drink. These silly little things we take for granted most of the time... Enjoy! |

| 1444931 | 2018-01-28 00:04:00 | Well I'm outta hospital, with a stent (en.wikipedia.org) stuck down my throat so I can now drink and eat limited squishy foods. At this stage they haven't addressed the cancer side of things, but I'll learn more on Monday. I'm told that the type of cancer I have can respond ok to radio therapy. That might start in a few weeks. Happy days. | Greg (193) | ||
