1444916 2018-01-22 16:27:00 This is tough news to hear . I don't like having friends in grief or pain, even if they are miles away, hang by their prehensile tails on an upsidedown upturned tectonic plate .

Cancer is a tough one, alright . . . . . I've not met it myself except in a daughter, my mom and non-relatives .

Having been a biomedical engineer for a major Los Angeles hospital and seen the facilities as they are now compared to then, I'd say that following the doctor's advice now is the best bet .

As I approach 72 years on the planet, my own demise rears from time to time . I've seen my youngest baby have a baby of her own now, so MY sojerne might be somewhat complete . . . . replete with triumphs, failures and status quo results . Sometimes just breaking even has been a good outcome .

But in all . . . . . having tossed my body into the fire of life and living with and suffering from the resulting havoc I have caused to myself and the people around me, like Jerry Garcia alluded: "What a long strange trip it's been . . . . (of course, he was on drugs 106% of the time) . . . . I have only myself to blame for the bad things I did to myself .

Dodging bullets is always best, but sometimes we, in spite of all our desires to not do so . . . . . . catch one .

My prayers include your name . I consider you a friend .

1444917 2018-01-22 17:43:00 Not nice Greg, having both a Father and Sister currently battling the big C as John Wayne called it certainly puts things in perspective. My Sister first got hers at the age I am now and can never work or drive again. Its looking increasingly like I will have to get on the plane to England in the next couple of months which isn't something I am looking forward to.

Take care Greg the Dr's do know what they are doing even if it doesn't always come across that they do.

1444919 2018-01-22 20:15:00 That is such crap news, Greg. Something none of us like to hear or would know how we would immediately react.
I hope you get the very best treatment available and good support.

1444920 2018-01-22 20:22:00 they cut tiny samples from my wind and food pipes, while fully conscious! They're proposing some sort of radiography therapy. Who knows, I even heard they might surgically implant a metal or plastic tube down to my stomach will will allow some ability to eat and drink.
.

Radiation? Yes, I've seen that op on TV where they replace someones esophagus ...worked well on that person (it was in the UK).

Sympathies, but wait and see how it goes, one thing with docs, they will always tell you the gloomy side, they need to, but it doesn't always work out like that.
