1444697 2018-01-10 04:29:00 ... for gaming?

Gee, I haven't used a desktop in years, but if or when I do it'll almost certainly be for gaming, and this monitor (www.pcworld.co.nz) as featured on NZ PCWorld's website seems like a complete dream compared to the last one I used!

Note: Ian Paul (PC World (US online)) it will be priced from about $650 to $800 in NZ

1444701 2018-01-10 22:01:00 Depends on the person, some insist you need crazy high refresh rates for smooth gameplay and the rest of us are happy with 60fps and 60hz. A true gaming monitor for the absolute best experience needs adaptive sync, high refresh rates, and low latency but you'll pay a premium for those features. I just bought a cheap 27" LG 1080P 60hz IPS screen last time and am very happy with it, I'm sure gaming screens are better but they cost too much.

4K though is very demanding on graphics hardware so it can make for expensive gaming, you need a 1080 or 1080ti to really play 4K games at decent fps but you can do quite nicely with a 1060 @ 1080p. If budget is a concern I'd stick with 1080P gaming, still looks great and is a lot easier to run. There's also QHD which would seem like the perfect compromise if only they didn't cost more than both other options. 4K is effectively 4 x 1080P, QHD is 4 x 720P and still looks awesome while not loading up the graphics card so much.

1444702 2018-01-10 22:30:00 I bought an LG ultra wide screen, and when using its split screen software and Windows 10 its like having two screens on your desk.
I use it at home for the internet, and my projects on Word and Access and Excel.
It was cheaper than buying two screens, and takes up less space on my desk.

(I am not a gamer)
