701700 2008-09-01 01:20:00 Hi Guys

I just received my Breville rice cooker from Flybuys.

I have cooked up two servings of rice and very nice it was.

I would just like to know how or why they work ?

Compared to say an ordinary saucepan on an oven. When you look at the rice cooker it is just a metal bowl, that turns itself down when the rice is cooked.

Any comments ?

Its a new way to part you from your money.
They both heat water which is absorbed by the rice.

701708 2008-09-01 05:22:00 I do my rice in the microwave on the programmed setting.

I find the secret is to make it in the morning for an evening meal. Don't wash it too much when cooked. Then, place in refrigerator to cool down. Then reheat it, dry, in microwave just before serving. Makes great rice for stir frying.

701709 2008-09-01 05:37:00 I do mine in a saucepan. Twice as much boiling water as rice (by volume), and boil on high with the lid off until all the water is gone. Takes ~5 mins, and achieves a perfect result every time! Erayd (23)
