824309 2009-10-26 06:14:00 I am looking for a modem for my computer, my previous was a DSL 302G but its dropping my connections and just slow i general. I need just a modem, to go with my linksys router. Anyone got recommendations. chuanwai (12518)
824310 2009-10-26 06:20:00 If your needs are simple just go for a thompson ST536v6. Chances are your ISP will throw you a new modem free if you tell them your old one is dying

Cheap as chips on TradeMe. I have a few spares if you want them cheap.

Since it doesn't support half bridging it'll mean that you'll need to disable DHCP and NAT on your linksys router and handle all routing from the modem with the linksys acting as an AP.

Or, if you want to handle NAT and DHCP etc from your router then get the AM300 and set it up in half bridge mode.

824312 2009-10-26 06:29:00 Ok lol. Ring your ISP and ask for a new one for FREE.

If they make you sign up for a contract for it then hang up and buy one from trade me for $10 bucks.

Should be pretty straight forward. Username and password details, check a box and thats it pretty much...

Its expensive new thought. Approx. 70-100$

You could get it second hand on TradeMe for less($40~)

I have one myself so I could walk you through it step by step. I can take screenshots for your now too if you want.
