824112 2009-10-25 10:24:00 Hi,

Myself and a group of friends run a fan website for a local sports team and we were thinking about using PayPal to enable readers of the site to help support the running costs of the site.

I've had a look at PayPal and tried to join but from what I can see anyone who makes a donation to my site would get an email back with my name on it. Given that our site has always been run as an annonymous fan site is there anyway I can have this functionality on our site without using our names in the confirmation email?

Thanks for any advice someone might have.

Cheers

824113 2009-10-25 10:31:00 That seems a bit extreme for a local sports team. They would all have to signup for paypal and I don't think many would do that.

Why not just supply the bank details and they can do an internet banking transfer.

824114 2009-10-25 10:38:00 Do you have to be a member of PayPal to make a donation by credit card? We have people who read and email the site from UK etc so thought that would be the easiest way.

Our site doesn't always see eye to eye with the official website of the sports team, hence the reason for the annonymous nature of the site owners.

824115 2009-10-25 20:04:00 A lot depends on whether you are using an e-commerce site, they don't have to join paypal to make a donation. What you could do is set up another email address to use on the site such as Football@gmail.com gary67 (56)

www.paypal.com

On the page is a link titled "start accepting credit card payments on your website":
www.paypal.com

Google is always your friend ;)

Might earn enough to pay for hosting costs; Many forums/car fan sites that I frequent, embed a few ads that are not too obtrusive. They don't seem to use donation widgets. But I think some get support from local companies/agencies - maybe approach a NZ sports agency or similar for support. kahawai chaser (3545)
