| 823996 | 2009-10-25 05:42:00 | Hi, I have a HP Compaq dx7300 Microtower. It currently has a Intel Core 2 Duo Ei300 1.86Ghz CPU. I was hoping to upgrade it to a E6700 2.67Ghz Intel Core 2 duo which I understand is compatible with my mother board which is a Hewlett-Packard 0A50h. I have searched for one of these and it appears that it is no longer available. My Bios is a Hewlett-Packard 786E1 v01.os 30/08/06. Are there any other CPU's of similar power that would work with the above? Thanks Grb |

| 823999 | 2009-10-26 08:48:00 | Since it is the same generation of processor I would be very surprised if it didn't work | ScreaminGherkin (14811) | ||
| 824000 | 2009-10-26 09:17:00 | The motherboard is physically capable of taking on all Core 2 Duos/Quads, but the BIOS may not be compatible with some of the later CPUs. You need to contact HP with your PC model and most importantly the BIOS version. You may need a BIOS flash to upgrade to E6x50 line of CPUs. For E8x00 CPUs you'll most likely to need a BIOS flash, if it is availble. | qazwsxokmijn (102) | ||
