823951 2009-10-25 02:28:00 Ok well heres my problem in the most simple way possible :)

- First of all I start my PC,
- all the fans start as usual except my graphics card fan.
- The graphics card fan starts but then stops for about a second then starts again and continuously does this.
- There is no picture on my monitor and my pc will not boot properly
- Everything else seems to work fine but the graphics card seems to just keep starting and stopping.

I am not to great with computers but Im guessing this is a GPU problem??

I have tried pushing in all connections, cleaning out my graphics card and different monitors but still no help.

I found if I smack my pc :P sometimes the graphics card fan will run fine, without stopping but still no picture on the monitor?

Please help!

823954 2009-10-29 04:28:00 Well I tired my brothers ATI card and still no luck
It does the exact same thing

Maybe all of the fans are starting and stopping but only the Graphic card fan is noticeable?

No idea whats wrong

Could it be the Power supply failing??

823955 2009-10-29 04:32:00 Probably a bung motherboard/PCIE slot. Have you got another PCIEx16 slot? qazwsxokmijn (102)
823956 2009-10-29 04:38:00 Im afraid I dont.
I could try my graphics card in my brothers system.

But since he has a higher Watt Power Supply, could that effect that card or anything?

I remember trying to plug a higher watt PSU into my pc once and it fried almost everything :\

823957 2009-10-29 04:51:00 It should have no bearing at all as the plug should still only output the required amount gary67 (56)
823958 2009-10-29 05:16:00 It should have no bearing at all as the plug should still only output the required amount

So are you saying I should use the same plug going from my graphics card to my power supply when I try my graphics card in a new system? to allow it to output the right amount

Or are you saying all plugs in general will output the right amount?

823959 2009-10-29 05:18:00 As Gary said. The thing that almost fried everything is probably a faulty PSU/wrong cabling. qazwsxokmijn (102)
823960 2009-10-29 07:06:00 PROBLEM SOLVED! :D

I took out the ram and put them into the two unused slots and that caused by pc to boot fine.

Then changed the connection for the monitor (due to changing it after the problem happening) and that gave me a picture!

Thanks heaps to all of you for help though
Love this site :)

:thanks
