823561 2009-10-23 23:34:00 i m upgrading an old pc of mine and i was wondering if the asus p5ad2-e premium has the right ports to handle a WD caviar black 500gb hdd at the moment i am running

p4 3.16GHZ
1 gb ram
40gb hdd
asus p5ad2-e premium mobo
gtx 7900 gpu
400w psu

as you can see i am well in need of an upgrade so if you could tell me if the mobo and new hdd are comptible it would be appreciated,

P.s i am getting a new psu so i know that the hdd will work with that it is just the matter of the hdd being compatible with the mobo :) i will be also upgrading the rest of my system near the end of the year but i am getting the psu and hdd now

823562 2009-10-24 00:00:00 Should be fine. Its got SATA and IDE on it. Is that the new mobo or the old mobo you posted? I take it that P4 is a socket 775, since the p5ad2-e premium is socket 775. And the ram you posted, is DDR2 553 ram, not DDR 400 ram (it wont work) Speedy Gonzales (78)
823563 2009-10-24 00:10:00 it is a socket 775 1066mhz not 100% sure what the ram type is id have to open it up and have a look thanks for the help smithinator (15240)
