| 702282 | 2008-09-04 09:53:00 | Well, we have fibre to our home . So do others in our new subdivision . . . We don't have ADSL though, or any other Telecom smart services like call minder, call waiting, fax ability etc though, as the cabinet we are connected to is too old to send ADSL down the line to us . . . . . apparently it gets to the cabinet from the exchange ok, but then stops . Telecom said originally they would upgrade our cabinet in 2011, then after input from our MP they now say late 2008 / early 2009 . We all wait . . . . I'd rather have copper to be honest, as would all the other peeved off residents of this are . Wireless b/b is expensive and limited :( Don't think fibre's the answer if the infrastructure's not in place . And as another poster said they could suffer if other ISPs had fibre in Wellington and Christchurch . I hope John Key does not listen to them . Also we should not listen to Telstra Clear, because they have been hot and cold over New Zealand for the last 20 years . It all depends on how much money they are making in OZ and as to whether they can bothered to worry about us over here . These international coommunications companies that have come over to NZ only care about making as much oney as they can . They don't have a real interest in NZs economy or wellbeing, as long as it doesn't adversly affect their business . |
