In spite of myself I am impressed with Google Chrome, now all it needs is a lot more features, such as 'copy link as plain text', 'open highlighted text as url' and so on.

I heard on National Radio today that the Incognito function is for "stealth browsing". The example they gave is that "you want to search for a present for your wife, and you want to cover your traces". Yeah, right. Whatever.

Jim Mora called it the Porn function (if I recall correctly - I was driving at the time).

Looks impressive and fast on first look
Now have to go work instead of giving it a good play
Bugger !

Had it downloaded, inspected, and uninstalled before you were out of bed.

702088 2008-09-03 23:00:00 PCWorld.com has reviewed Chrome: www.pcworld.com nst_it.html

This is the main 'against' that I was concerned about when installing Chrome (I've uninstalled it already - for now)

5. You're giving advertisers extra ammo.
Have you seen all the hype about Google's privacy practices (blog.wired.com) and how much of your data it shares with advertisers? Imagine the potential ammo you're giving it by using this browser. Google will now have total control over your experience from the time you open Chrome to the time you shut down. In some sense, you might just as well invite DoubleClick (http://www.doubleclick.com/)to watch over your shoulder while you surf.

702091 2008-09-05 22:11:00 From reading the responses here it looks like Chrome could have the world record for the number of most quickly uninstalleds ! Digby (677)
702092 2008-09-05 22:21:00 When you use Firefox, for example...Mozilla has a deal with Google to distribute the Google Toolbar as part of Firefox.

When you type stuff into the Google toolbar, Google can actually see what you're typing. But Google can't see that data if you're typing the same address/letters into the URL/address bar.

What Chrome has done is essentially merge the toolbar and the address bar. So Google gets to see whatever you're typing in the address bar. The most interesting and scary about this browser is that it's made by an advertising company.

I smell a Bill Gates-type sell out to vested interests.
