Not really but at least its one of the competitors out there

Are they still holding on? I haven't heard of them for years. Their website still looks the same, and it isn't as user friendly as trademes. If they actally reduced their fees, to get a critical mass of users, rather than charge almost the same as trademe they could have a chnace of competing. There are also free trading sites.

They don't seem to be growing, as the number of auctions looks less than what it was when I used it a few years ago. There member number is quite high, but I suspect many are non active members who signed up as part of a competition.

701122 2008-08-29 21:51:00 Neither of them is selling a service - both are holding customers to ransom.
What is it they are selling then?

701123 2008-08-29 22:19:00 It doesn't matter how much TM put their prices up, people will still use it, and pay the high prices, because lets face it -> TradeMe is the most popular way to buy/sell in New Zealand. And that probably won't change any time soon. --Wolf-- (128)

They are purveyors of frustration...

Damn good question.

Snake oil (overpriced) perhaps? It certainly fails to fit the common usage of "service" anyhow.
