823898 2009-12-15 03:29:00 For one I would not shop in Hardly Normal. The cost of extended warranties are often more than the cost of getting a replacement part(probably of a better quality) so they are really not worth it. mikebartnz (21)
823899 2009-12-15 06:52:00 Extended warranties lol.

I remember buying electronic items for even $200 and they asked me for if I wanted to pay $100 more for extended warranty, haha.

I haven't looked at them in NZ. The ones overseas, the extended warranties may not even be from the manufacturer. It might be outsourced to a third party like a independent repairer. In fact if you go back to the retailer or the manufacturer they say, please go to that third party you are contracted to :D

My mum's washing machine, bought like 15yrs ago still goes. She bought a extended warranty. Seriously if you wanna save money, particular with IT, they go out of date so fast and go so cheap, you might as well scrap the extended warranty, get another new or used of the same old model. Or pay a bit more and get the newer one. Ie., I don't get extended warranty on my mobile phone nor do I purchase phone insurance. And AFAIK your household insurance should cover that I think. I know that contact lenses are covered by them but these days people wear disposables instead.
