He didn't know anything about formulas. He'd put something in a cell, something below it, then add it up manually, then write the result below it. Clean the PC, removing everything (including bookmarks etc), image the clean HDD, then all you have to do each time he calls is go re-image the drive, take the money and leave, you could even sit in your car while the job is being done . Consider your fee as a fine for his craven addiction . You could also insist that he bring it to you because you find his room offensive (said in the nicest possible way of course) . Your approach is a bit like a doctor turning away patients with lung cancer from cigarettes, or with STDs, because the way they developed their malady offends your moral standards . It was about 4 years ago now . Now I am many miles away from him . I could have done lots of things to the PC but I didn't feel like helping as for one it wasn't even him that would ring, it was his friend . And I won't go into what he asked me one weekend either, concerning his own PC . . . . . . . . . . . I really didn't want to know . . . . . . . . . . Just nasty little boys . If he had shown some interest or effort at maintaining the thing himself I might have persisted, but he really couldn't have cared less . It was an absolutely great PC, the best thing to have done would be pinch it, reformat it, and give it to some deserving gamer kid who didn't have a proper PC . But while that was tempting I thought I'd just leave them to it . |
