701444 2008-09-01 03:35:00 Presently with Vodafone I pay $40 per month + $10 for data + 17c for each text and 707 call to pick up messages. It usually comes to between $55 and $60 per month.

I checked with Telstra this morning and I can keep my 021 number and use my Nokia 9300 Smartphone for $20 per month + 29c per minute + $3 per MB with 500 free texts. I reckon it will be a little over half price.

What's the catch, I wonder?

701445 2008-09-01 03:49:00 Telstra's new deal includes a free Nokia handset worth nearly $500 - with 500 free texts to both rival networks and a flat 29c per minute national calling - with a monthly access fee of $20. Thats the one we got the other day - OR should I say the Mrs got - we've already got telstra Cable/TV/Phone - the Mrs needed a new phone any way, and only ever txt's about 40-50 a month.
Never rings any one unless its urgent - people ring her more often than not. AND could have kept the old Vodafone number if she wanted to.

701448 2008-09-01 04:46:00 So they're merely reselling Telecom's network basically. What's new. pcuser42 (130)

(Talk about mixed messages.)

701452 2008-09-01 10:02:00 I dont think telstraclears deal is a bad one because at least the phone you get is free retail it costs $499 but you get it for free and whats more your plan is only $20 any excess usage over and above that is charged but if you can control your buget and not over do it i think this plan is way better than telecom and vodaphone. Better still if you live in chch kapiti or wellywood you get all tv internet phone and broadband and mobile all on one bill so you would only receive two bills a month one from telstra and your power bill. 701453 2008-09-01 10:36:00 There's more bills than just phone, internet and power (eg water). ;) pcuser42 (130)
