701108 2008-08-29 02:35:00 I wasn't, just this once. ;) Now now, calm down. I do strange things like this occasionally. :waughh:

They haven't got a monopoly anymore, even though they still rip everyone off.

I was going more along the lines of Sky and Vodafone (iPhone).

How do you work out that Telecom isn't a monopoly any more? I don't see any competition in the mobile phone arena - they aren't playing on a level playing field.

Although you can take your 027 number to Vodafone - and vice versa - (where a Telecom caller, unbeknownst to them pays a higher call rate, to ring what appears to be another Telecom number) it isn't easy to change provider, since Telecom phones don't have a SIM card to swap out... You still have to buy a new phone to truly change provider. This is not the case in the UK or Europe.

Once Telecom rolls out its GSM network (June 2009?), we might see opportunities for REAL competition...

701111 2008-08-29 03:16:00 In the mobile sector, yeah. As you said the playing field isn't level, Voda**** and Telecum are not selling the same service.

I was thinking more of the Internet and phone line area.

Yeah, sorry Rob!

Neither of them is selling a service - both are holding customers to ransom.

701113 2008-08-29 06:21:00 To bring the thread back on track...

I listed some skis on TradeMe today and was most surprised to see that it now costs an extra 25 cents to specify a Reserve Price!!

How long has that been the case??

So you think Zillion is actually "real competition for TM" ?
