| 702564 | 2008-09-04 13:17:00 | Hi everyone, I've got to buy my mother in law a new TV which will probably be a Samsung 22" LCD and was going to get her a Freeview Terrestrial HD box to maximise the image quality, but which one! Any consensus as to which one to get which to avoid? Any comments appreciated! |

Best picture on the Zinwell with HD on TV1 and TV3 but both have pretty darned good picture. Both (on SD) far superior to Sky SD picture. What about a TV with a decoder built in. They are available now. Ken |

Well she is a great mother in law but its her money were spending for her. She's going into care (her choice), so were just trying to maximise her comfort level as much as possible after hearing some horror stories of money grabbing children going cheap on there parents so that there was more for themselves at the end. Yes there is also an actually quite expensive electric lift chair in the pot as well as she is finding it more difficult to lift herself out of her current one (current, get it! :) ). The rest home frowns on them but knowing my mother in law she'll only use the lift part if she really needs to. |

Yes we had started off thinking that we'd get a 32" TV with the decoder built in, and then thought that a 26" might be a better size, but having seen the shockingly small room she'll be getting, it's now down to 22" and of course they don't yet come with the decoder built in at that size. How small could this room be I hear you ask? It's 2.8mtrs by 2.38mtrs! In that, we were trying to comfortably fit a 2.mtr bed, bedside table, a small set of draws with this TV on top and the chair! To get it in comfortably (which is as you might imagine is a relative term) we've had to ditch her near new bed for one 1.9mtrs long supplied by the care home. |
