701238 2008-08-29 04:23:00 Are you sure look at auckland last year there power went off unexpectedly because a power cable snapped at a substation.The ground in marlborough is very unstable and soft you never know what could happen given the fact that nzs power grid isnt 100 percent reliable and needs a major upgrade. I assumed it was the North Island that relied on the power coming from the South Island. :confused:

In summer, electricity flows North. In winter, power flows south due to increased demand on thermal energy (which is mainly in the north island).
