823571 2009-10-23 23:58:00 Hi to all. I have a Gateway laptop with Windows XP Home Editon, SP 3, with 2GB of ram.

I recently went to the device manager and under "show hidden devices" I found a lot of devices with yellow !. Here is the image of it:

823572 2009-10-24 00:04:00 Have you installed any drivers for it? Speedy Gonzales (78)
823573 2009-10-24 00:09:00 I have installed a lot of things to the laptop over the years, bough it in 2006 and tho it doesnt have a lot on its HD it has its years now. Thing is I dont know what all those devices are. JOYBEBA6679 (10686)
823574 2009-10-24 00:16:00 Delete them all (the ones with ! on them), then reboot. They'll come back Speedy Gonzales (78)
823575 2009-10-24 00:29:00 Ok I disable partmgr, restarted and the laptop gave me a BSOD, so I used Last known settings that worked" and all went back to normal. So I have to delete them?? JOYBEBA6679 (10686)
823576 2009-10-24 00:31:00 Just leave them if the computer is working properly Speedy Gonzales (78)
823577 2009-10-24 01:50:00 Look like some sort of network settings gary67 (56)
823578 2009-10-24 03:31:00 Almost looks like XP was forcibly transplanted to this laptop rather than installed from scratch. ubergeek85 (131)

I agree. I see devices from at least 3 different motherboard chipsets!

Then again, someone might have just installed the wrong drivers....

823580 2009-10-24 07:04:00 This may be a long process, but if you really want to get rid of them even though your computer is working fine, firstly you should look up your hardware so you know if there is any you shouldnt delete and then delete them one by one until theyre gone (system restore point first!). If you get BSODs then revert back and mark the driver down as important.
Whew!
Hope this helps...!
