824779 2009-10-27 21:39:00 Hello, I just finished installing Ubuntu 9.04 Jauntu Jackalope RC on a 8+ year old Compaq Deskpro and my display is doing some odd things. For one thing, all the colors that should be orange, appear green. Also, all colors that should appear blue appear purple. Also, under my mouse, there is a static square box that whenever i move it, draws all over the screen. If anyone knows what's up please let me know. DavidDawn (15381)

The colours sound to me to be a hardware fault - is there a bent or missing pin from the video cable?

824781 2009-10-27 22:18:00 Probably a faulty cable.

Does it happen in the BIOS/POST screen as well?

824782 2009-10-27 22:32:00 I have had very similar problems in Debian when the right drivers were not being used (either S3 cards or SiS cards)

It's probably not a hardware fault, do you know what video card you have?

824783 2009-10-27 23:04:00 It's not the screen because i tried two seperate monitors and they both have the same results as for the GPU i'm not sure i'll have to look at it. All i know is that it's an older Compaq Deskpro. I'll do some research then find the video hardware :D LarsJohann (13010)
