824784 2009-10-27 21:28:00 Hey,

I have a network here that has 3-4 workstations and a file server.
There is a USB only printer attached to one of the workstations and this is shared.
Two of the workstations can access the printer and print without a problem.
The other worstation, a toshiba laptop with XP Pro SP3, can't access the workstation at all let alone the printer.
Whenever you try to access the workstation to install the printer you get an error saying it can't access the computer and then something along the lines of:
"There are currently no Logon Servers available to service logon request"

I have put the username and password that is being used on the Toshiba onto the workstation that has the printer attached.
I have also disabled firewall/AV software.
I have tried reseting TCP/IP.
The toshiba laptop doesn't have any problems accessing the file server.

Any ideas?

824785 2009-10-27 23:06:00 Can you ping the Workstation and get a reply ? wainuitech (129)
824786 2009-10-27 23:42:00 Yea can ping OK and can see the workstation in the workgroup, along with all the other workstations/server, but that error comes up when you double-click it to open up the available shares. CYaBro (73)

824789 2009-10-28 00:50:00 Is this a domain? sounds like authentication errors, try re service packing.. SolMiester (139)
824790 2009-10-28 00:56:00 Sounds a little like the laptop cant figure out the DNS correctly. have you tried running WinsockFix (www.softpedia.com) wainuitech (129)
824791 2009-10-28 01:44:00 I feel your pain! (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz).

Guess mine was different because I could at least access the shares with \\ip no. I did find a couple of wrong entries in the router which is probably why mine started working after entering a different static IP no. into the PC doing the accessing.

Good luck.

824792 2009-10-28 02:54:00 netlogon & server services running? razzarphenix (2626)
824793 2009-10-28 11:03:00 Yep all services running. As I said other computers can print fine to the printer and the toshiba can print fine to another shared printer on another workstation. I just can't get the toshiba to print to this one printer. (or access the computer over the network) CYaBro (73)
