824553	2009-10-27 04:52:00	My XP SP3 has all of a sudden gone into a 30min boot up stage. I notice that service.exe uses up to 2GB of virtual memory but slowly dissapates over time but am unable to identify the process causing it. Initially when problems started happening I did an XP Repair install because for some reason I was unable to access any Restore Point. But problem has not been resolved. Computer specs are: P4, 2.8GHZ, 512MB RAM Have attached a HJT log for review. Any assistance is appreciated. 824555	2009-10-27 05:10:00	Thanks Speedy. Why would I be running out of RAM? Up until last week I had a rather speedy boot up. The only thing that has changed since then (as far as I am aware) is that I ditched ZoneAlarm for Comodo Firewall.	Cptn Hotshot (3904)

824560	2009-10-28 08:19:00	Had a similar problem this morning Avast got corrupted somehow. Short version, uninstalled Avast, installed Windows security suite, but still had the same problem. fixed when I used CCleaner to get rid of left over bits in the Registry. 824561	2009-10-28 08:36:00	Make sure you uninstall Comodo rather than disabling it, disabling it will mean it's still in the Kernel. --- Start > run > 'msconfig' > 'statup' tab Has a list of all the programs that start up. Go through the list and disable anything that you do not need. If you don't know what a process is/does google it and you'll come up with pleanty of results.
