| 704017 | 2008-09-10 09:31:00 | Whilst I agree with you about pigs with their snouts in the trough, and Lockjaw, and some others I could mention (e.g. the parasite turncoat Douglas in the ACT Party), it amazes me that anyone could think that National is cleaner than any of the current lot. They are all doing the same thing, using trusts to hide who they get their donations from and how they are using them. All political parties are acting behind closed doors. I guess some have less to hide (e.g. Greens and Māori Party) because they don't attract the large corporate donations. The Tories are also hiding their real agenda! I don't think national as a party, are any better than Labour, especially with the hangers on they have in the party. However, we do need a change in government, and by default if there was a change, the only party it could realistically be is National. I do quite like John Key as a leader, as he comes across as a nice enough guy, and I believe his main intention is for the good of NZ, and not for the ego trip. He is not in parliment for the money, as he has made enough money for the rest of his life, and he donates what he makes from parliment. Unfortionately the people who are leaving NZ for OZ and UK are probably National voters, leaving mainly Labour voters, so they will possibily get back in again. The EFA also benefits them too and makes it harder to get rid of them. Also many people still remember National 90's policies, many of which were terrible, which is turning people off them. |

| 704019 | 2008-09-10 09:53:00 | robbyp - don't disagree with anything you say, except for your assessment of wee Johnny . I don't think being a nice man is a great qualification to be PM - remember Bill Rowling, who was as nice a man as you are likely to get in politics, and Muldoon cynically destroyed him? Key is more likely be destroyed by the ambitious right wingers in his own party than those in Labour, who have tried hard for months to little effect . And another thing I don't like about wee Johnny is that he does seem to have a habit of flopping around like a beached eel - he always seems ill prepared and he is so easy to take by surprise . He reminds me of those kids that were always bullied in the school playground . I also don't think that his money making activities buying and selling cash is a qualification either, yet people persist is saying he is such a successful man he will be a great PM . Well, Don Brash was a very successful man in a narrow field too (also money oriented) and he was dog tucker before he could even get his feet under the PM's desk . Ditto Billy English . |

We may have to agree to disagree.:) I agree we need fresh meat, but most of the Tory and Act lot smell a bit off as well. We have had umpteen years of people like Simon Power and that twonk Ryall (who rabbits on about health), saying the government have got this that and the other thing wrong, but not ONCE have they said what they would do. They seem utterly bereft of ideas. Most of the time you just know that they would have either done the same thing that Labour has done, or they would have sold it off to their mates (remember Max Bradford?) and then blamed them when it went pear shaped (like the electricity industry). And as for Douglas - even the Nats say they won't have a bar of him - he should have stayed in the freezer cos he is way past his use by date. |

If the rural economy falls, NZ will be in for a tough time While Diary prices may be falling sheep and cattle are going to do better but the trouble is because of the reduced sheep numbers, because of draught and commercial reasons, we are not even going to be able to supply the demand. |

Diary prices had to drop - a whole lot of the year is already used up ;) |
