703052 2008-09-07 08:47:00 Lesson learnt. My current partner talks to me instead of throwing something at me. I don't retaliate to speech with violence. Before, I did retaliate to violence with violence.

And so would have I, Though I fully support the laws being applied wherever possible due to the amount of filthy scum who refuse to behave and treat the victims like they are at fault.

I know violence well, Its a tool for the weak.

703054 2008-09-07 12:48:00 Bought time he decided to be a man about it isn't it?

Bashing his woman was weak.
Hiding it behind money was weak.
Hiding behind suicide is weak.

He has to live with his actions, he shouldn't have acted as he did if he didn't want to suffer the consequences.

And the same goes for the media attention, He brought it upon himself by his actions and life choices.

Agreed - and not just weak, but craven as well.

703056 2008-09-07 20:55:00 Tony Veitch rang his wife to say he was leaving Auckland and taking his life.
Of course if you were serious you wouldn't make big announcements about it first would you.

He is not the only one. I used to work in what today would be called a call centre and we would have someone threatening suicide at least once a week. We never took them seriously.

If he is to go to trial, he should be tried anywhere but NZ. He will never have a fair and unbiased trial in this country.

He has had a trial by media - as many have said - and now it is a trial by F1 as well. Nofam has the right idea.

I fail to see how someone can be judged without all the facts. Only when you have all the evidence can you judge.

I'm curious to know why his former partner only decided to make a complaint now. Why did she not complain at the time? Can't really have been all that bad.

There are always those who like to tell us how we should react to comments on here, sod off.

Exactly!

Bravo Metla, yet another poster who obviously knows the entire case, and before the court has heard it too....

If there is one thing worse than trial by media before all evidence is heard, its the berating from idiots who believe everything the media says is Kosher?!!:groan:

Some things are believable - the date is quite frequently correct for a while.

Veitch himself admitted to violence against his former partner.

And "all the evidence" is never heard at trial - only that evidence allowed under the law of evidence, once pre-trial applications have argued what is admissable (or not).
