The WD Greens are very good value, abeit a little slow but fine for basic usage. Get the black if you want performance and the longer warranty(3yrs vs 5yrs)

I need to make sure I get SATA only then?

Well you don't have to as your motherboard probably has a spare IDE port like most, but I wouldn't bother with IDE. Its slower, older technology and costs more.

Go for SATA!:)

824726 2009-10-27 22:22:00 Well since your old HDD is SATA, it makes sense to assume you have SATA ports in your PC and therefore would benefit from buying a SATA drive.

You most likely also have a free IDE port or two as well, however they are slower and the drives are more expensive (and smaller)

It still wouldn't hurt to open it up and check to make sure you do indeed have a spare SATA port though.

I just bought two of the 1TB Seagate 7200.12. Same price as the WD Green but faster :D
