| 706279 | 2008-09-19 03:01:00 | Far Cry 2: Atomic MPC Preview: After spending some time with the preview our feeling is this will be the next gen shooter that Crysis didn't quite deliver. There was the feel that the game was nothing more than an elaborate tech demo, a real emptiness to the environment. FC2s African jungles and grasslands are teeming with life. Birds fly overhead, buffalos block roads and at night even more animals prowl among the high grasses. Assuming you haven't set them on fire - the grass or the animals. Much has been made of FC2s realistically propogating flame effects, but trailers cannot show what a major gameplay element it really is. Not only is it an outstanding weapon in your arsenal, but its also very chaotic. Case in point: in one fight we were beset by half a dozen SA mercs and were holding our own until we heard the roar of god behind us and our avatars health started dropping. We were confronted by a wall of flame, which erupted after a stray round had knocked over a 40gallon drum with some burning wood in it. The grassfire quickly turned into a raging inferno, cooking off gas tanks and ammunition alike. And my arm was on fire. But all the particle effects, ragdoll physics and collapsing buildings in the world can't help a game if the combat sucks. Thats one of the things that let Crysis down. In FC2 the combat is faster and more chaotic. Badguys can sneak up on you in the bush, or are just as likely to flee and find some mates. The AI can also make clever use of the vehicle weapon mounts, take out a gunner, and driver is as likely to climb up into the mount. Dare we say it, this could be the game that Crysis promised to be, and very possibly the finest shooter to date. :clap |

| 706280 | 2008-09-19 03:17:00 | i quite liked crysis  but if this is as good as they say it is then crysis might just have to get traded in for a copy of FC2 :punk |

| 706281 | 2008-09-19 03:17:00 | "PC Release Date: October 21, 2008" And it's not too much of a wait either. Crysis wasn't so much a demonstration of what the software could do, as of what the hardware couldn't. That's got to be bad design... surely. Lets hope it actually plays, and I don't have to go CF 4870x2 to play it faster than a slideshow. |

I dunno, makes a change having a game with high specs . So many are sad little console ports . Here's some things to be testing the hardware with meanwhile: The Rygel texture mod for Crysis . HL2s Cinematic mod . |
