705820 2008-09-17 02:30:00 Hi Team

I need to buy a replacement lamp for a 500W builders/painters floodlight.

It is a 10cm long tube with ceramic contact holders at each end. The whole lamp was originally purchased from Placemakers for about $10 and the lamp in the first one I bought exploded when switched on. They replaced the whole shebang and this one has actually lasted several years!

The hardware stores don't seem to stock them at all.

Cheers

Really?

They are pretty common - what is the diameter of the tube??

Got blank looks from my local Mitre 10 even with the sample in my hand. Might have to carry it in the car and check random suppliers when driving past.

Sounds like they are out there though so thanks for that. I feel encouraged.........

705824 2008-09-17 10:14:00 Most electrical wholesalers have them, TWH used to have them - I haven't checked lately though. Mitre 10 Mega in Glenfield had some this afternoon. R2x1 (4628)

705826 2008-09-18 11:16:00 Found a selection to choose from at Placemakers Megastore in Albany. Cheap 'n nasty at $5, guaranteed life at $10. I took the $10 version, the manufacturer was reputable.

Thanks for the help.

Cheers
