| 705351 | 2008-09-15 07:23:00 | i have a desk lamp that has a generic looking halogen bulb, one that looks like this (www.germes-online.com). It doesn't seem to have a transformer anywhere so i'm assuming it runs on the standard 240V. What i wanted to ask is do these lamps use much power compared to your standard 60W bulb? | mOOseCaNNoN (13319) | ||

I imagine it is rather bright - it should be tossing out as much light as one of the 100w incandescent (yellow) old style lamps, but at much closer to real daylight colour temperatures. At 50w, it will take 20 hours to use 1 "unit" (KWH) of electricity. |

GU10's are halogen lamps that use mains voltage as against your average halogen lamp which needs a transfer and usually works on low voltage eg 12v. They have their own special sockets so that other types of bulb cannot be fitted in error. |
