| 705246 | 2008-09-15 02:46:00 | I broke my phone on the weekend. :( Don't ask how, I don't know! :p Anyhoo, I need a replacement, I was really hoping to use my 6155 till Telecom released their GSM network, but that's not gonna happen now...pity. I'm looking at either a 2855 or a 6275. (TradeMe, 6275 is in bad condition.) Just something cheap, doesn't need to be flash or in good condition, but needs to have a calendar and be capable of storing and displaying images. I was wondering if anyone has/has had either of those phones and can comment on them TIA! :) |

| 705247 | 2008-09-15 04:14:00 | The 6275i is what TelstraClear is giving away to new signups to their mobile service (which uses the Telecom network). Apparently it works on both CDMA and GSM so that when Telecom switches over, the phone will still work. Well, that is according to the TelstraClear salesman - I asked him what would happen at the changeover and he said the phone would be fine. I looked up the phone on a Nokia phone review site somewhere or other and it said that it would roam overseas on GSM networks, so I guess the salesman was right. |

It only gives the 6275i as being a CDMA phone, and their brochure about roaming says you need a Worldphone or GSM phone - there is nothing on their website to indicate the 6275 is either. Sorry, don't believe salespeople... |

| 705249 | 2008-09-15 04:27:00 | Thanks for that. I think I might go for the 6275, its a nice phone. Even if it is in crap condition, it shoudl be sweet for a year or so, then I can find a nice GSM phone. |

| 705252 | 2008-09-15 05:06:00 | Yeah it was supposed to be October this year, then April 09, now it's July. They delayed it because they've added a few new things apparently. | nofam (9009) | ||
| 705253 | 2008-09-15 05:12:00 | We were gonna be the first in the country to get it, but someone kicked up a stink about the tower being too close to a daycare facility or something. :( | wratterus (105) | ||

The public ends up paying for the duplication in the end. More mobile companies are going to create more cell phone towers. The government should unbundle vodafones mobile network, so we only have the one network, and more money can go into expanding it into rural areas. |
