| 825924 | 2009-10-31 09:12:00 | Recently I have had trouble with my USB ports . I am using XP Pro . My USB keyboard, mouse and printer are working . However everytime I put in a USB drive I get the error message "This device has malfunctioned and cannot be used" or something very similar and I cannot access the drive . I have tried all my drives with the same effect . I have also tried the drives in another PC and two laptops and they work fine . I have just tried a fresh install on Windows on a freshly formated C: as still having the same issue . The fact that the keyboard, mouse and printer works suggests to me that it is not a hardware fault - but I'm stuck as I thought the fresh windows install would fix a software fault . |

Delete everything under USB controllers, then reboot (if a service pack is installed). Remove the USB drive first, then plug it in after you reboot | Speedy Gonzales (78) | ||
