HELP please Thanks! Evrypc : ( Does safe mode work(tap F8 and boot and select safe mode). Can you perform system restore from there? Have you tried last known good configuration? Sounds like some files are seriously corruptly-most likely a malware issue. You'll probably need to do a repair install at least. Blam |

| 825562 | 2009-10-30 07:19:00 | You don't need to reinstall. But you will need to do a Repair Install All programs and data are left intact. More info here: michaelstevenstech.com Blam |

| 825563 | 2009-10-30 07:32:00 | Hmmm interesting. OK maybe ill do that. Is there a way of transfering files (backup) if i dont want to use DOS or take the hard drive out since windows is innaclesible.. | evrypc (15296) | ||
| 825564 | 2009-10-30 08:12:00 | If the startup repair (EDIT:repair install lol) doesn't work try this: You could try booting off an ubuntu live CD and then copying the files you want from your HDD to an external HDD, DVD or flash drive. Then just reinstall windows. |

| 825565 | 2009-10-30 08:18:00 | Yea-but I would export all the drivers first to save time. BTW Darkstar-startup repair is for Vista and 7 only. XP does not have this function;) evrypc: You could also try replacing the corrupted files with the ones on your XP CD using Recovery Console, but it would take more time and may not neccessarily fix your problem.
