| 825465 | 2009-10-29 23:40:00 | Hi all, As part of the ongoing saga with Telecom / Big Time, if you've seen any of my recent threads you'll know that they've admitted there is an issue with their Traffic Management and in particular Streaming Video (Even in times when the Traffic Management shouldn't be messing with it). Now, Telecom are after more examples from other customers currently on the Big Time Plan. If you're on something else like Go Large, Adventure, or with another ISP then this thread isn't for you ;) Here's what's needed in an Email to: Telecom_Broadband <broadband_telecom@mailca.custhelp.com> Broadband line : IP address: Times of issue: Site name and Link to the video: Also trace route to the site, ideally do 100 iterations using WinMTR from http://winmtr.sf.net Make reference that you have been told about Ticket # 19337857. Note: The ticket I raised (Ticket # 19337857) is specifically for Streaming Video, however if you're experiencing issues with other things, it's worth posting here and I'll try and go through some basic diagnosis with you, and give you all the information you'll need so that you can then effectively give Telecom all the details required about your incident. If anybody has a Geekzone account and is keen to cross-post this, that'd be awesome, as I've forgotten my details and don't have time right this second to try and remember them ;) Anyways, let the fun begin, and hopefully we can make this a better plan for everybody. I just want my TiVo, YouTube & TVNZOnDemand! :D Cheers Chill. |

I might have missed a post, but what Streaming Video issues have you been having?? We have been on big time since the 15th October, and I have not noticed any issues with Streaming Video, like from Youtube (I dont think I have watched a video from TVNZ On Demand yet, so I cant say how they are). Although when I go to any Youtube videos I dont watch them right away, I normally pause them till they download or let them play in the background, did this on Go Large as well. |

| 825469 | 2009-11-07 18:21:00 | Exactly. There's no need to let them pause for an extended period of time when I can easily download at 400KB/sec. When I was on Orcon I'd hit that and more, reliably, every time. I know it's not an issue with the local Telecom exchange, I've done my research with other nearby connections, my connection etc. Basically, it should buffer for a second or two, but thats it, not for 10 minutes to play a 3 minute video :( |

| 825470 | 2009-11-08 00:28:00 | That happens with us as well. TVNZ ondemand doesn't work very well unless you use VLC (:D), and higher quality YouTube videos can take ages to load. | pcuser42 (130) | ||

Hey I would love to flick an email through but how do I find what my broadband line is? And also how do I use this WinMTR thing? Cheers |

| 825472 | 2009-11-08 00:53:00 | That's your phone number, sorry ... the phone number your broadband is on. To use WinMTR, type in: youtube.com Click Start and let it go until the number Sent gets to around 100. Hit Stop, then "Export TEXT". Do the same for tvnzondemand, nzherald.co.nz, trademe.co.nz, australianoftheyear.org.au & news.com.au Copy the text from all the files into your Email when you send it to them, along with a brief overview of your issue :) |
