825386 2009-10-29 20:51:00 Ever since I joined Orcon I have been getting dropped from my connection EVERY night between 7 and 9 o'clock. I am only off line for about 10 seconds and them I am back. This happens once or twice every night If I am on "Teamspeak" or downloading from FTP server I lose my connection and have to manualy connect again.

I have tried three different Routers and several line splitters, but the same thing happens with all of them. The ADSL DATA light on the router goes out, then starts flickering and then comes back on.

I e-mailed Orcon yesterday and got back instructions on how to connect the router, and a message saying "if it happens again phone us.". That didn't make me very happy

So when it happened again about 8 pm. I got on the phone. Waste of time! "I can't find anything wrong with your connection"
He didn't appreciate it when I suggested that their lines might be overloaded dureing peak period.
He ultimately said that he would get the technical people to look into it today.Probably a waste of time.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Login there with your username and password and go to the usage area. See if the disconnections there match up with what you're experiencing.

825389 2009-10-29 21:32:00 You said its happened since you joined Orcon - did you have ADSL with a different provider immediately prior to this, and were you experiencing any problems with them? inphinity (7274)

No problems wit Xnet except slow download speed

825392 2009-10-30 01:43:00 Don't some routers have a default client lease time of one day? That could explain the same time period each day. the_bogan (9949)
825393 2009-10-30 02:06:00 Yeah pretty much, hence why I asked ... Chilling_Silence (9)
825394 2009-10-30 04:04:00 I'm with Orcon too and had very similar issues just last week.
Over 2~3 days the connection would just drop at random times, then reconnect, (LinksysWAG200G).
Spoke to customer services who said everything was fine at their end, and that maybe the splitter was at fault, which I very much doubted. He said he reset the connection from his end ,after which it has ran fine since.

(Did notice that it tended to drop when http downloading large files from the common file servers and speed was at about average 18,000kbps and spiking to above 20,000.)

825395 2009-10-30 05:52:00 That'd probably be the router if it was dropping under load... Either that or check your SNR details Chilling_Silence (9)
