705450 2008-09-17 03:00:00 had the pleasure of meeting and hosting the 1987 pink floyd edition here in auckland....
richard was a truly wonderful eccentric english gentleman....
we shared lots of humour (dry of course) and on the strength of hospitality shown i was invited to spend time with them the following year in LA when their world tour continued.....
the world has lost yet another great musician

705451 2008-09-17 06:06:00 Hate to say it, but I think Pink Floyd is/was one of the most pretentious, self-indulgent & overrated bands in modern history.

Wish You Were Here is a great song though. :p

You are in a bit of bad taste Nofam.

The poor guy has only just died.

Any your stupid post has ruined this whole thread.

If you are a band that has been going for 30/40 years, had a truly original style of music, had the longest selling album ever, an album that just about everyone had, and that every track is a top track (Dark Side Of The Moon) and filled concerts year in year out. And still draw huge crowds, then I think they could afford to be pretentious and self indulgent if they wanted to be.

Pink Floyd... The Wall, Dark Side of The Moon, Momentary Lapse of Reason.. great sounds .. definitely one of a kind band, and definitely pioneers with their particular style

705453 2008-09-17 07:21:00 Yes they were pioneers in their day but it was a while ago now. Seeing them do Division Bell in London and Toronto was fantastic. gary67 (56)
705454 2008-09-17 07:27:00 My favourite album of thiers was The Final Cut. Or was it Animals? Or maybe Division Bell. the_bogan (9949)
705455 2008-09-17 07:46:00 Yes David Gilmour still draws the crowds, and he is probibly pushing 65 himself.
